A clear process for new export market enquiries

Importers who ask about a new destination now follow one documented process, from the veterinary approval check to the agreed product specification.

Morgan Beef has set out one process for enquiries about supplying a new export market. It applies to importers, distributors and agents who ask whether beef from the Springs abattoir can be shipped to their country.

The first step is the regulatory position. Export of beef from South Africa depends on a veterinary agreement between the 农业、土地改革和农村发展部(Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development,DALRRD) and the destination's competent authority, and on the abattoir's listing for that destination. Morgan Beef checks this before any commercial discussion starts.

The second step is the product. Each enquiry is answered with a written specification: the cuts or carcass forms, the trim, the age class, the packing, the labelling and the halal certification the destination requires. The cut index gives the reference codes used in these specifications.

The third step is the documentation. For an approved destination Morgan Beef lists the health certificate, the halal certificate and the commercial documents that accompany each consignment, so the importer can confirm them with its own authority before the first order.

Enquiries are received through the contact form. The export pages describe the markets Morgan Beef serves and the approvals that apply to each.
